The affinity bar organizations in Minnesota proudly present an informational evening event for attorneys interested in becoming a judge. The event, titled “Demystifying the Path to the Bench in the Sixth Judicial District,” will include a presentation from Erin Sindberg Porter, the Chair of the Judicial Selection Commission and will feature a panel discussion with Sixth Judicial District Court Judges Sally Tarnowski, Rebekka Stumme, Andy Peterson, and Sixth Judicial District Court Administrator Amy Turnquist. The panel will be moderated by Judge Leslie Beiers, the Assistant Chief Judge for the Sixth Judicial District. The event will conclude with small group break-out sessions facilitated by current Sixth Judicial District Court Judges, recently appointed judges from other districts, as well as members of the judicial selection commission and other bar organization leaders familiar with the judicial selection process.
The purpose of this event is to encourage individuals to apply for the upcoming judicial vacancy by providing individuals with information regarding the judicial selection process, including the qualities that the commission values in applicants. The event will also provide an overview of the work judges do in the district and the needs and opportunities that this specific vacancy creates. It will also allow participants to get answers to their specific questions about the selection process and about the job itself.
