Each year MABL Foundation raises money to award scholarships to students attending local law schools who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and who are committed to addressing issues that impact the black community. These students are recognized and honored at the gala, along with the recipient of the MABL Profiles in Courage Award (to be announced), awarded to an individual who has demonstrated courage, excellence, and integrity in furthering the Association's mission of representing the interests of black citizens in the legal profession and judicial system.
This year's gala will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by an amazing dinner and program, and ending with dessert and entertainment.
Our keynote speaker is U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison. Ellison represents Minnesota's 5th Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Ellison, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, was a practicing attorney and community activist before he was elected to serve in the Minnesota State House of Representatives. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2007.
This year, MABL will honor:
Hon. Mark Dayton, Governor of Minnesota, Profiles in Courage Award
