The Minnesota Association for Black Lawyers and Twin Cities Diversity in Practice would like to cordially invite you to our inaugural soirée for incoming Black law students in the Twin Cities area. This event will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 4:30pm-8:00pm, at Seven Steakhouse and Sushi Bar.
The soirée is meant to kickoff the school year with an exciting introduction to the Twin Cities area and to give incoming students an early connection to the black professionals who live and work here. Returning 2Ls and 3Ls, as well as recent law school graduates and MABL members are all invited to attend and to get to know the first year students.
There will be hors d’oevres, a bar, access to the rooftop, and a short introduction and welcome from the MABL board around 5:30pm.
During our conversations with local law students this last year, one of the biggest complaints has been the lack of a cohesive community where they feel supported. We have often heard that there simply are not enough students of color to effectively staff their affinity groups. Our purpose is to provide these students with the support they need, to get them plugged into a network of professionals, and to help them on their path to academic, professional, and personal success.
Seven Steakhouse and Sushi Bar is located at 700 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403. Questions, comments can be directed to Faith Jackson at firstname.lastname@example.org RSVP’s are encouraged.
We hope to see you there!
Faith and Johannes
